The AGM is the time to consider how UBC Sailing is meeting the needs of our members and serves as an opportunity to make suggestions for future directions. Importantly, members of the executive are elected who will be responsible for all aspects of the clubs operations. We encourage all members to come have your say on who is running your club and voice your opinions on how the sailing club can be made better!

Recommendations to incoming execs 3. Election of executives INTERESTED IN JONING THE EXEC Join this exciting team and help the club you love get people on the water! Note – if anyone is interested in getting involved with the executive but is not elected to a position, we will actively search out a role for them. EXEC POSITIONS Commodore (Must be a UBC Student) Presides over all executive and general meetings. Being a member of all committees in the club, the Commodore is responsible for the successful operation of the Club. The Commodore is also the liaison between Jericho Sailing Association and the Club. Vice Commodore (Must be a UBC Student) The Vice Commodore will assume the duties of the Commodore in the case of prolonged absence of the Commodore. The VC is responsible for all issues related to membership including registration and membership promotions. Often they are the “face” of the club to members,. Treasurer (Must be a UBC Student) The Treasurer is responsible for all club finances, keeping track of membership, and ensuring we have an accurate accounting strategy. Assistant Treasurer Assist treasurer in comprehensive financial strategies and works closely with Vice Commodore to process membership registration. Secretary Responsible for all club correspondence, keeping minutes at all meetings, maintaining all records of the club and its activities, and arranging all bookings. Lessons Coordinator Responsible for organizing all dinghy lessons for our members and oversees the instructors. Windsurfing Lessons Coordinator Responsible for organizing all windsurfing lessons for members and oversees the instructors. Social Coordinators (2 Organize Clubs Socials + 1 Keats Island Organizer) Social coordinators are in charge of organizing social events, BBQs, and our notorious Beach Parties. Keats Island Organizer coordinates the annual 3-day sailing/camping trip to Keats Island (on the August long weekend). IT Coordinator(s) Responsible for the club's registration system, Tsunami News weekly e-newsletter and website maintenance. Moreover to develop comprehensive IT strategy for technology-based communications. Social Outreach and Public Relations Is responsible for the club's PR and outreach programs. Facilities Manager Responsible for keeping the clubroom shipshape by organizing volunteers to for regular club facilitates upkeep. . Archivist Responsible for maintaining historical records and actively pursuing the knowledge of they history of the sailing club. Also organizes awesome pictures and wicked videos of club members sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and partying. Safety Coordinator Responsible for overseeing safety protocols of the club. Moreover, serves as motorboat fleet captain as this is an integral component to safety and emergency response procedures Racing 1. Monohull & High Performance Responsible for club participation in dinghy racing at Jericho (FJ’s. Vanguards & Lasers). Also in charge of the club's high-performance monohulls: RS500s and 29ers. 2. Multihull In charge of coordinating Hobies and Nacras competing at local regattas and Jericho race nights. Fleet Captains: 1. Kayak Responsible for paddling lessons program, proficiency exams, and oversees budgeting and major purchases for the fleet. 2. Monohull Responsible for Flying Junior, Laser and Vanguard fleets, organizes dingy proficiency exams and oversees budgeting and major purchases for the fleet. 3. Multihull Responsible for Hobie Cat and Nacra F18s. , multihull lessons program, multihull proficiency exams, and oversees budgeting and major purchases for the fleet. 4. Windsurfing Responsible for L1,L2 and High Wind windsurfing, organizes proficiency exams and oversees budgeting and major purchases for the fleet. Rear Commodores: In charge of “keeping crafts afloat”. Responsible for fleet repairs, maintenance and work parties. Work closely with Fleet Captains to plan fleet budgets and long-term planning: - Kayak - Monohull (2) - Multihull - Windsurfing - Motorboats Past Commodore (by default) Provides guidance to the executive team Venue
