This exam allows club members who are experienced windsurfers to become certified to use our windsurfs without taking lessons. Please dress appropriately. If your know what you are doing, it should take about 1.5 hours with no instruction provided, only guidance with respect to club procedures.
The member will become certified at the instructor’s discretion. If the instructor notices a lack in specific skills and they are available to extend the session, they can opt to help you fix that on the spot, with the overall session now at a cost of $35 per hour. This is more time- and cost-effective than you failing the exam and having to retake a whole lesson.
Bear in mind that the cost of a proficiency exam ($70) is similar to that of a group lesson, which offers instruction and more time on the water. With that in mind, if you are unsure about your skills, we encourage you to take part in one of those, with the added benefit of meeting more members of our windsurfing group!
